The IQA and Japan Quadball Association are excited to announce the 2029 IQA Quadball World Cup will be hosted at J Village National Training Center in Fukushima, Japan on May 11 – 13, 2029.

The first ever IQA event hosted in Asia, the 2029 IQA Quadball World Cup will bring athletes, officials, and fans from around the world to one of Japan’s most scenic regions. Beyond the competition, visitors will have the chance to experience the area’s renowned hospitality, exceptional local cuisine, and beautiful natural surroundings while celebrating the tournament alongside the global quadball community.
Outside of Fukushima, from the bright lights of Tokyo to the historic streets of Kyoto, peaceful countryside, and stunning coastlines, every corner of Japan has something unique to discover. While the country’s iconic cities are well worth visiting, we hope the 2029 Quadball World Cup inspires you to look beyond the usual itinerary. Fukushima offers a chance to experience a quieter, more local side of Japan, while also serving as a gateway to many of the country’s beautiful rural regions. With Japan’s extensive rail network making travel simple and convenient, we encourage you to venture beyond the guidebooks and discover the places that make Japan truly unique.
“We are incredibly proud and honoured to bring the biggest event in Quadball to Asia for the very first time,” said Sena Shimizu, President of the Japan Quadball Association. “This is a historic moment for our sport, and we are committed to creating an event that will leave its mark on quadball history. We want everyone involved, whether they are here to compete, cheer from the sidelines, or be part of the event in any way, to feel the energy and excitement of this historic moment. And beyond the pitch, we hope they discover the beauty, culture, and spirit of Japan, and leave with memories that last a lifetime.”
Players, volunteers and spectators should note the World Cup will be played over three days.
“Japan has been shaped by great events: the fall of the Shogunate, the Meiji Restoration, Godzilla rising from the sea, the Great Kanto Earthquake, the 1964 Olympics and the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011 and the remarkable rebuilding that followed.. Each left its mark on history”, said the Chair of the Trustees, Daniel Price Croft, “But now, another great event is coming, one that will bring the world together through the game we love. In 2029, the World Cup comes to Japan. And trust us… めっちゃ盛り上がるぞ! 🔥”
Further information about World Cup 2029 will be released after the conclusion of 2027. In the meantime, any enquiries about the event can be directed to [email protected]
